About Cultivate
Cultivate is app concept that allows users to grow their skills and develop desirable habits. The user picks a skill they want to improve, sets goals, and starts tracking their progress through Cultivate. Cultivate collects this data and develops a analogous 3D environment to represent the users progress. For example, if the user wants to focus on increasing the activity of drawing, the analogous 3D visualization could be of a garden, with flowers and fruits representing progress toward their goal.
In order to develop habits, Cultivate helps the user set a schedule to reach their goal. If the schedule is not met fairly regularly, the result will show up in the analogous 3D environment as a blemish or obstacle to growth in the 3D world. In the example, these blemishes would manifest in the form of rocks, barren soil, or rotting crops, depending on severity.

Original Project
Cultivate started out as a task tracker to help users maintain a work life balance. Allowing the users to visualize their activities and tasks in 3D.

Through advancement in technology and workplace ideology working remotely has become a common practice for most people. The need for a better work/life balance has become increasingly prominent. The purpose of this project is to develop a physical task tracker that integrates with smart devices, via a companion app, to help the user understand how they are spending their time during work and life activities.
The user will be able to create a personal hierarchy of tasks and task goals that are important to them in their day-to-day life. Using the combination of the task tracker, hierarchy, and goals, the companion app will generate an interactive 3D visual representation of how the user spends their time at work and day-to-day life. The goal of the 3D visual representation is to provide insight into daily habits, visualize time wasters, and help meet daily goals.

Feedback and Pivot
The feedback I got from users told me the method of visualization was a novel concept, but it could be misinterpreted and not specific enough to match the data being tracked.
After analyzing the feedback, it felt clear that the project was just rehashing apps and trackers that already existed, but with the inclusion of 3D elements. While the project was still just an idea/concept, I decided to pivot to a new idea with a similar concept, but this time, focus on growing skills and ability.
In Progress
Since the project pivot, Cultivate continues on its current purpose of improving skills and ability by providing an analogous 3D environment to track progress. Following the data collected from empathy interviews I plan to make the following improvements on the project:
Develop a more robust habit loop (que, routine, reward)
Focus on improving user's skills
Target a demographic of users who enjoy games that include farming, upkeep, and idle play:
Similar to Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley
Develop 3D environment interactions
Develop more 3D environments
